High-Temperature Thermal Insulation Coating

High-Temperature Thermal Insulation Coating (2000℃)

VeryPaint® SP-9812H is a two-component, room-temperature curing inorganic high-temperature thermal insulation coating designed to withstand temperatures up to 2000℃, with an extremely low thermal conductivity of 0.033 W/m·K.

The coating is formulated from specially synthesized inorganic silicate solution, aluminum silicate fibers, heat-reflective materials, and selected hollow glass microspheres. It is a non-toxic, environmentally safe system that provides outstanding thermal insulation performance, with insulation efficiency reaching approximately 90% under appropriate thickness. It can also provide effective cold insulation by reducing heat transfer from external heat sources to low-temperature objects.

Product Features

  • Extreme High-Temperature Resistance: Withstands temperatures up to 2000℃, making it suitable for the most demanding high-temperature applications.
  • Excellent Thermal Insulation Performance: Features an extremely low thermal conductivity of 0.033 W/m·K, providing insulation efficiency of approximately 90% under appropriate thickness.
  • Advanced Composite Insulation System: Mimics the insulation principle of a thermos flask, combining static air barrier, inorganic matrix, and reflective shielding for near-vacuum insulation levels.
  • Dual-Purpose Functionality: Provides both heat insulation and cold insulation, reducing heat transfer in both directions.
  • High Mechanical Strength: Offers compressive strength up to 80 MPa, adhesion strength of 8 MPa, and hardness of 7H, ensuring durability in demanding environments.
  • Environmentally Safe: Formulated as a non-toxic, inorganic coating system that is safe for industrial use.

Working Mechanism

The coating structure mimics the insulation principle of a thermos flask:

  • Hollow ceramic microspheres contain trapped air, preventing thermal convection even under high temperatures
  • Dense microsphere packing creates a 3D air barrier layer
  • Inorganic film-forming materials provide structural support with low thermal conductivity
  • Heat-reflective materials further reduce heat transfer

Together, these form a composite insulation system combining static air barrier + inorganic matrix + reflective shielding, bringing thermal conductivity close to vacuum insulation levels.

Typical Applications

  • High-temperature kilns and furnace chambers
  • High-temperature molds
  • Pipelines for high-temperature fluids
  • Electric furnaces and induction furnaces
  • Rotary kilns and other thermal equipment

Application Notes

This is a two-component, room-temperature curing system. Mix powder:liquid = 1:1 (by weight), stir evenly, then allow to mature for 5 minutes before application. Seal unused material tightly. Clean tools during long intervals to prevent hardening.

Recommended Film Thickness

Dry film thickness: Defined by application. Apply to designed thickness based on actual operating conditions.

Theoretical coverage: 0.6 m²/kg/mm (calculated based on dry film thickness).

Surface Preparation

Ensure the substrate is clean, dry, and free of dust, oil, rust, and degraded layers. Recommended surface roughness: 25-40 μm.

  • Steel surfaces: hand grinding to St3 or sandblasting to Sa2.5
  • Better surface preparation improves coating performance significantly

Application Methods

  • Spray coating: Air spray using large-nozzle spray gun or textured coating gun
  • Brush coating: Cross-brushing method recommended
