Acrylic-Modified Silicone Emulsion

Acrylic-Modified Silicone Emulsion

VeryPaint® WR-3417 is a high-performance one-component self-crosslinking acrylic-modified silicone emulsion developed through the copolymerization of silicone monomers and specially modified acrylic polymers. It contains a low level of hydroxyl functionality, providing an excellent balance of weather resistance, water resistance, adhesion, and environmental compliance.

With low odor and low VOC content (<4500 PPM), WR-3417 supports environmentally friendly coating systems while delivering performance approaching more than 60% of conventional 2K polyurethane systems. It is suitable for a wide range of applications including exterior architectural coatings, industrial protective coatings, and decorative finishes.

Usage Guidelines

Proper formulation design is recommended for optimal performance. Amine neutralizers are generally not suggested. Associative polyurethane thickeners are preferred for viscosity adjustment. Small amounts of solvent may be added if necessary during formulation. Minor sedimentation may occur during storage; stir evenly before use.

Typical curing performance:

  • Surface dry: approximately 30 minutes at room temperature
  • Initial strength development: approximately 2 hours
  • Rain resistance: 7–8 hours after application
  • Water immersion resistance: after 3 days curing
  • Best final performance: after approximately 15 days curing

For accelerated curing:

  • Baking below 160℃ is recommended, or
  • Add aziridine crosslinker at approximately 1.5% based on resin solids

Additional recommendations:

  • Hydroxyl content is approximately 0.4%
  • In ceramic glaze or washed stone systems, recommended resin dosage is above 60%
  • For clear coatings, water dilution should generally remain below 15%
  • Compatibility testing with pigments, fillers, and additives is strongly recommended before production

Recommended Application Procedures

1. Washed Stone Coating System

  • Primer: WR-3416 diluted 1:1 with water, cured for 24 hours
  • Base Coat: WR-3417 diluted with water at 1:5–1:8 depending on aggregate size, cured for more than 3 days
  • Topcoat: WR-3417 clear protective topcoat

2. Ceramic Glaze / Waterproof Wall Coating System

  • Primer: SIO-7416 diluted 1:1.5 with water, cured for 24 hours
  • Finish Coat: Apply 1–2 coats of WR-3417 ceramic glaze coating
